SOVE, v.2 To make one's way, to proceed, used esp. of birds.Ayr. 1887 J. Service Dr. Duguid 174, 245:
[The craws] were careering and soving awa hame to Eglinton, like the black messengers of doom. . . . The wheepling o' a whaup as it soved owre the heather in the still blue lift.
Per. 1904 E.D.D.:
I'll hae to sove awa hame.
