AITCHISONIA. Bot. A shrub with bright rose-coloured flowers of the Rubiacea family found in Afghanistan and called after James E. T. Aitchison (1836–98), of Lasswade, a distinguished army physician and botanist (1882 Journal Linnaean Soc. (Bot.) XIX. 144).
