CURTAIN, n. Sc. usage in comb. curtain web, see quot. Cf. Curtan.Abd. 1795 Stat. Acc.1 XXI. 140:
To these succeeded the curtain web, calculated for the West India market. The curtain web was a coarse, thin, white sarge, stearched, and often rent in stearching by a violent exertion of the manufacturer, who soon lost a lucrative trade by indulging an intemperate thirst of gain.
