SKOLABROD, n. Also skolla-, skol(l)i-. A broken piece of wood, a splinter, a stave, most freq. in pl., any dilapidated wooden object, as an old boat, etc. (Sh. 1962). [′skɔlabrɔd]Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928):
He has no a skolabrod. Gane i skolibrods. A auld skolabrod o' a boat.

[Prob. ad. Norw. skålbrott, a fragment of a (wooden) bowl, a sherd, Norw. dial. skålbrot, a little old bowl (see Skol) with assimilation of the second element to Brod, n.1]
