SHÜTA, int. Also söta, söti, södi (Jak.). A coaxing call to a cow at milking, or to a calf (Ork. 1970) or †lamb. [′ʃøtə]Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928):
Söta lamb, södi lamb! but noted down only as a term of address to a cow during milking.
Sh. 1912 Old-Lore Misc. V. iii. 111:
I have heard a call in Shetland “söta! söta!” or “shüta! shüta!” which I think was used to young calves.
