SCAT, n. Of uncertain meaning. The context suggests some pejorative connotation and the word may be a reduced form of Scart, n.2, Scart, n.3 Combs.: scat-eyed (where scat might poss. be ad. Gael. sgat, a skate fish), scat-necked.Sc. 1794 J. Grahame Poems 91:
That's eilans wi' the lousy title, Coft by that scat-necked loun.
Arg. 1880 Stray Leaves 32:
I'll sclimb the Knowe and view the guid auld ditch, Jist tae confound the ugly scat-eyed witch.
Abd. 1932 D. Campbell Bamboozled 14, 21:
