RÖDASTABB, n. Also rodrastobb (Jak.); rudderstab (Sh. 1904 E.D.D.).

1. Only in phr. to sit (or stand) like a rödastabb, to sit (or stand) immovable, like a block, impeding the way of busy people (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928)).

2. A small thick-set person, esp. a child (Ib.).

[Ad. Faer. royðrarstabbi, a seat made from a dorsal vertebra of the rorqual, O.N. reyðr, rorqual, + stabbi, a block.]
