1. Fern, bracken (Per. 1967). Gael.Arg. 1903 Blackwood's Mag. (March) 393:
The hens stood under the broad eaves of rannoch or bent grass.
Arg. 1903 Blackwood's Mag. (May) 680:
The inn of Creggans with its rannoch thatch rotting to dust.
Per. 1904 E.D.D.:
I am going to Callander to cut the rannoch.

2. Fern-like weeds at the bottom of a lake, phs. a different word from 1.Knr. 1894 H. Haliburton Furth in Field 143:
