QUILE, n.3 A quill, a bobbin or spool on which yarn is wound, as in Eng. weaving usage. The form is prob. a misprint.wm.Sc. 1837 Laird of Logan 196:
The weavers, . . . wi' their quiles o' yarn on their backs, and their hecks trantling ower their shouthers.
