PARSLEY, n. Also parsly, -ie; persely (Rxb. 1961 W. Landles Penny Numbers 7).
Sc. combs.: 1. parsl(e)y breakstone, the ladies' mantle or parsley piert, Alchemilla arvensis (Ork. 1693 J. Wallace Descr. Ork. (1883) 169, parsly-). Also in Eng. dial.; 2. sea parsley, a perennial herb, lovage, Ligusticum scoticum, found near the sea (Highl. 1886 B. & H.; Rs. 1965). See also Persel.
