OWERFAMMER, n. Also ower-faamer. To strike down, lay low, render helpless (Ork. 1929 Marw.). [-′fɑmər]Ork. 1911 Old-Lore Misc. IV. iv. 187:
Dis pat him aff his gaird, an', afore ever he said sentence, da villan owerfammer'd him wi' a cut o' tree.
Ork. 1929 Marw.:
I'm just owerfaamered wi' the heat the day.

[For the second element, cf. Norw. dial. f(j)aama, to go about in a stupid dazed way, to faint. The suffix -er is causative.]
