1. The nose. Now only in comb. nos-sker(din), a cut made in the nostril of a sheep as a mark of ownership (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928)), from Norw. dial. skjerda, a cut, slit.

2. A promontory, headland, ness (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., 1914 Angus Gt.), in Sh. placenames.
