MISH-MASH, adj., adv., v. Also meesh-mash (Gregor). Cf. Maschle. Sc. form and usages:

I. adj. Confused, mixed (Gregor: Abd. 1963). Hence deriv. mishmasherie, n., anything in a state of confusion or cramped disorder (Sc. 1825 Jam.).

II. adv. In a confused manner, in a mixed-up condition.Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 113:
His maitters a' geed meesh-mash.

III. v. To mix up, to mingle, to throw together confusedly (Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 112; Abd. 1880 Jam.).Edb. 1791 J. Learmont Poems 198:
Steghin gluttons, . . . Mish-mashin' creatures for their greed or gust.
