¶MEGGIFICATION, n. Only in Hogg and appar. = a fabrication, a lie. Used also as an ejaculation of astonishment. Cf. Megstie.Slk. 1830 Hogg Tales (1874) 440:
“Meggification, hinny! sic a dream as I hae had about Aidie! . . . An' as for folk to say that there's nae truth in dreams, ye ken that's a mere meggification.”
