LEASE, v.3 Also leese. To release, let go, unloose, lit. and fig. Rare and liter.m.Lth. 1882 Mod. Sc. Poets (Edwards) IV. 173:
Ye fin' out fauts that ne'er exist, and leese your spite on me.
Sc. 1927 Scots Mag. (July) 296:
It'll be a right rough wooing for you, my man, if ye dinna lease me. Hands off, at once.

[Prob. aphaeretic forms of release. Hardly a survival of obs. Eng. leese, to set free, loosen, O.E. līesan, id. O.Sc. however has lese, to release, 1615.]
