JURATORY CAUTION, n.phr. Inadequate security allowed in some civil cases where the party swears he cannot find other or better security (Sc. 1946 A. D. Gibb Legal Terms 47), analogous to the Eng. phr. entering into recognisance.Sc. 1838 Bell Dict. Law Scot. 135:
Juratory Caution . . . consists of an inventory of his effects given up upon oath, and assigned in security of the sums which may be found due in the suspension.
