JEMMIES, n.pl. A kind of woollen cloth manufactured in Aberdeen.Abd. 1795 Stat. Acc.1 XIX. 208:
Cloths manufactured from the above wool . . . jemmies and stripped apron stuffs.

[Sic, but the word is prob. a misprint for temmies. See Temming. The form tammy occurs in Eng. dial.]
