HINNIESICKLE, n. Also hinnysickle, hinney-, hiney-suckle (Edb. 1773 Fergusson Poems (S.T.S.) II. 135), hinniesookie (Rnf. a.1850 Crawfurd MSS. (N.L.S.) H. 41). Sc. forms of Eng. honeysuckle, formed on analogy with Hinnie, q.v. (Bwk. 1853 G. Johnston Botany E. Borders 99; Sc. 1874 A. Hislop Sc. Anecdotes 158; Ags., Ayr. 1957).
