Sc. usages in combs. not found in Eng.: (1) hedge-burs, goosegrass, Galium aparine (Slg. 1886 B. and H. 251; (2) hedge lintie, see Lintie; (3) hedgeman, one who trims or tends hedges; (4) hedge-root, the bottom of a hedge (Per., s.Sc. 1956); (5) hedge spurdie, -spurgie, a hedge sparrow (Abd. 1885 C. Swainson Brit. Birds 28, ne.Sc., Per. 1956, -spurdie). Also dim. hedgie, id. (Ayr.4 1928; ne.Sc., Gall., Dmf., s.Sc. 1956).(3) Wgt. 1804 R. Couper Poetry I. 62:
