GRAILLYACH, n. A young cockerel (Arg.1 1931). Often used fig. for a callow youth. Also graille. [′grɑ: ʎəx]Arg.1 1931:
A woman would say of a youth aspiring to make love to her: "Deed no: I wadna look at the lake o' him; he's only a graillyach."

[Appar. a corruption of Gael. coileach, a cock.]
