GARIBALDI, n.

1. Sc. usage: the name given to a kind of bun and also to a scone of the muffin type (Sc. c.1880 per J. H. Macadam; Abd., Fif. 1954).Sc. 1909 “Tried Favourites” Cookery Book 150:
Garibaldi Scones. 1 lb. Flour, 2 oz. Butter or Dripping, 1 oz. Sugar, 1 teaspoon Baking Soda, 1 teaspoon Tartaric Acid, and sweet Milk sufficient to mix into a soft paste.

2. The spotted orchis, Orchis maculata (Sh.12 1965). CfBalderrie of which it is prob. a corruption or alteration.
