FESTYCOCK, n. “New ground meal made into a ball, and baked among the burning seeds in a kiln” (Ags. 1825 Jam.). The same as fitless cock, s.v. Fitless, and Dry Goose, s.v. Dry.

[Jam. connects the word with Fastern's Een, on which day cocks were fought and eaten.]
