EMMLINS, n.pl. Also emlins, emlanes (Bch. a.1926 (per Abd.3)), emlines. [′ɛmlɪnz]

1. Scraps, fragments, left-overs.Bch. a.1926 (per Abd.3):
Eat up the emlines there; let naething be lost. Have you eaten the fishie? Yes, a' but the emmlins.

2. Entrails, giblets. Also given by Abd.2 1943 for Upper Deeside.Bch. c.1900 (per Abd.2):
A Strichen friend tells me he remembers distinctly his mother frequently using the word emmlins. She called the quern, heart, liver, etc. of fowls emmlins. “Noo ye'll mak' soup the morn wi' the emmlins o' the hens.”
