EENACH, Enich, n. The grease which permeates sheep's wool, the natural grease in wool (Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 43, eenach; Abd.2 1943). [′inəx]Abd. 1915 H. Beaton Back o' Benachie 20:
The grease from it [wool] was called "enich," and acted like soap for the washing, very little manufactured soap being used then.

The eenach aff the 'oo' maks ma hans richt saft.

Hence eenichy, adj., having its natural grease.Abd.15 1928:
The aul folk span eenichy 'oo'.
