DRONY, adj. and v.

1. adj. Sleepy, sluggish. Found in Eng. 18th cent. and still in use in Chs. dial.Lnk. 1853 W. Watson Poems 50:
Yet heirs an' fond lovers account it nae crime To sing or to say, "Haste awa', drony time."
Wgt. 1912 A.O.W.B. Fables frae French 82:
He's drony, an, he's deef, his sicht is gane; We'd like a steerin' sovereign; send us ane!
