CULLYAC, Cuyllyac, Cull(e)ock, Kujllik, Kollek, Kullyak, n. A species of shell-fish, Tellina rhomboides (Sh. 1808 Jam., cullock, culleock; 1809 A. Edmonston Ancient and Pres. State Zetland II. 321, cuyllyac; 1866 Edm. Gl., cullyac; 1908 Jak. (1928), kollek; 1914 Angus Gl., kujllik; 1932 J. M. E. Saxby Sh. Trad. Lore 203, kullyak). Also applied to other shell-fish (see second quot.). [′kʌl(j)ək]Sh. 1795 Stat. Acc.1 V. 190:
The shell-fish are spouts, muscles, cockles, cullocks.Sh. 1806 P. Neill Tour Ork. and Sh. 93:
The Cullock is the Tellina rhomboides; and the same name seems to be sometimes applied also to the Venus Erycina, and Mactra Solida.
