COP, COPE, int. A call to a horse in a field to approach (Arg.1 1937; Gall. 1939 Observer (26 Feb.) 8/4, cope; Kcb.6 1914). Also found in n.Lin. and Not. dial. (E.D.D.). Freq. reduplicated as cop-cop (Rs., Inv., Mry., m. and s.Sc. 1975). [kɔp, kʌp]
