CONDITIONS, n.pl. Personal qualities; habits, behaviour. Obs. in Eng. since early 18th cent. (N.E.D.). Used, apparently, only by Scott.Sc. 1824 Scott Redgauntlet, Letter xi.:
Sir Robert ca'ad it [monkey] Major Weir, after the warlock that was burnt; and few folk liked either the name or the conditions of the creature.
Sc. 1830 Scott Diary (24 Dec.):
This morning died . . . Miss Bell Fergusson, a woman of the most excellent conditions.
