CATERLOON, n. (See quot.)Cai. 1916 Old Cai. Croft in John o' Groat Jnl. (14 April):
If he was a fisherman, so much of the produce of his boat had to go to the “big hoose.” The laird had his deputy at the little harbour, collecting the fish. This party was known as the “caterloon,” or wife, as the case might be.
