BUSHI, n. A short, thick darning needle. Also attrib. with needle. Jak. gives forms bussi-needle and bossi. [bʌʃɪ̢, bɔsɪ̢]Sh.7 1937:
Folk, I winder what's com o' my bushi needle. I hope I'm no tunt it.

[Same word as in Norw. bosse-naal, triangular bone-needle for sewing a pack-saddle padding, bossa, pad under the saddle, from bos, straw, bus, litter (Torp). ]
