BUMBLEKITE, n. A blackberry, bramble, Rubus fruticosus. Also found in Eng. dial. (E.D.D.). Not known to our correspondents.Lnk. 1831 W. Patrick Plants 220:
[The blackberries] are also called blackbides, bumblekites, and scaldberries.

[Bumble (s.v. Bummle), to spoil + kite (s.v. Kyte), the stomach, prob. from the effects of over-eating the fruit.]
