BUDGEL, n. Also budyel. “Lit. a bag, a poke, and sometimes so used; but generally it implies a bundle, pack, budget” (w. and s.Sc. 1887 Jam.6). Not known to our correspondents.Rxb. a.1838 Jam. MSS. XI. 19: 
Budyel. A bag kept under the hopper of a mill to abstract some of the meal, a black-bitch.

[Prob. a cross between Eng. bundle and budget, but cf. O.Sc. budgell, a bottle (D.O.S.T.).]
