BREESE, n.2 “Pottage made in a particular manner. See brose, of which this is the northern pronunciation” (Abd., Mearns 1825 Jam.2). Prob. Jam. refers here only to the northern boundary of Mearns. We have had no confirmation either of the meaning or the form of this word in the sense of brose, but cf. breeze s.v. Broose.
