Alie, to cherish, to nurse, to pettle.
Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928):
Al, ali, (1) to feed; rear; support, esp. to feed an animal . . . in the house in winter; (2) to entice an animal to the house by fondling it and giving it food; to accustom an animal to have the run of the house.
