Retourable, adj. [Retour v.] Of a brieve: That requires to be answered by a retour made out after an inquest. — 1681 Stair Inst. iv iii § 10.
The brieves not retourable are four, which are not decreets, but precepts directed to sheriffs, etc. … and therefore they are called pleadable brieves
