Re(s)cind, -(s)chind(e, v. Also: -scinde, -shind; -shund. [L. rescindere, f. re- and scindere to split, divide, etc. Cf. 17th c. Eng. rescind = to cut off, take away (1643), in this sense (1690).] tr. To abrogate, annul, revoke, repeal, cancel.In early use, appar. only Sc.(a) 1530–1 Maxwell Mem. I 262.
