Repon(e, -ponn, v. Also: Response. [L. repōnere to replace, restore. Cf. med. L. (Latham) reponere ad manum to restore to possession, reponere in legem to free from outlawry. Cf. also 17th c. Eng. repone to answer (once, 1644).]

1. tr. To restore (a person) to (till), or in, a position, right, condition, etc. previously enjoyed.Also without const. and with infin. compl.(1) 1525 Acts II 299/1.
