Rad, adj. Also: radd. [ME (chiefly north.) radd (Orm), rad (Cursor M.), ON hrǽddr, whence also Red adj..Also in the later and mod. Sc. dial. as rad, red(d and (with long vowel) rede.]

Scared or afraid (to (till) do something, also that something may (may not) happen); fearful or apprehensive (of (for) a person, a particular consequence, etc., or for a thing or person that may suffer harm).Also without const.See also Red adj.(1) 1375 Barb. xiv 439.
