Sterapman, n. Also: sterop(e)- and -manne. [Sterap(e n. and Man n.] An attendant on a horserider. a. specif. An attendant in this capacity of the king, a member of the king's household with duties regarding the king's horses, their equipment, etc. b. An attendant during a joust, one who helps the rider mount.a. 1524 Reg. Privy S. I 492/2.
