[ME. and e.m.E. pilegrimage (c 1290), pilgremage (1387), -grimage (c 1325), -grymage (Rolle), -gramage (north., c 1400), pylgremage (Caxton), OF. pelrim-, pelryn-, pelerinage, also pel(l)egrin-, peligrinage (Godef.), f. peleriner to go as a pilgrim.
