In Aberdeen: The Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Luke ii. 22 f.) as celebrated on Candlemas day by a procession which appar. culminated in a religious play.Presumably as the occasion on which Christ was offered to God and to Simeon, on which the Holy Family offered their sacrifice and on which the worshippers offer their candles and money offerings.For further discussion see Mill Mediæv.
