Irne-werk, -wark, n. Also: irnwerk, irn-wark, irnework; iryne-werk, -wark; iyron-worke. [Late ME. iren-, irnewerk (1475), yreworke (1451), e.m.E. iron worke (1556–7). Usually written as two words.]

1. concr. a. That part of anything that is made of iron, e.g., the iron framework of a window; iron fittings. b. Articles made of iron, collectively.(a) c1475 Wall. iv. 508.
