Ges, v. Also: gesse, ghess(e, gaise, gis. [ME. gesse (13..), MDu. gessen, var. of MDu. and MLG. gissen. Cf. Du. gissen. In both verb and noun the spelling gais(e corresponds to the modern pronunciation.]
