Fast, n. Also: faste. [ME. fast (c 1300), faste (c 1200), ON. fasta.] A time or day of fasting; spec. one appointed to be observed by the General Assembly, or locally by a presbytery or kirk session. a1400 Leg. S. xviii. 1078.
