Consign, Consing, v. Also: -signe, -singn. [e.m.E. (1528), OF. consigner, L. consignāre.] tr. To consign, commit, deposit; spec. to deposit (money) with a third party pending arbitration or a judicial decision. 1557 Stirlings of Keir 413.
