Baking, Baiking, vbl. n. Also: bakyn, bakkyng; baik(k)yng, baikeing, bayking, baikin; beakinge, beackine, bekin. [ME. bakyng(e, bakinge (14th c.), f. Bake v.] The act or trade of baking; a single baking or batch. Also attrib. with table, tub.1463 Peebles B. Rec. 150 (scho sall be clossyt of bakkyng yer and day). 1531 Edinb. B. Rec. II. 50 (anent the baiking of his breid). 1550 Reg. Cupar A. II. 75 (the office of brewyn, baikking … ); 1552 Ib. 102 (the office of bekin, bruwyng, … ). 1595 Edinb. B. Rec.
