Bag, n. Also: bagg, bagge, bage. [Early ME. bagge (c 1225), ON. bagge, baggi.]
1. A money-bag. Freq. in pl. baggis.c1420 Wynt. viii. 6157 (othir lordis sayd he had fillyd his baggis). c1460 Consail Wys Man 306 (a bag of gold). a1500 Henr. Orph. 414 (with gret trauale to fill the bag). 1488 Treas. Acc. I. 96 (to put in his bag, ic half royse nobillis). c1500-c1512 Dunb. xxiii. 27 (quhen thair baggis ar full thair selfis ar bair). c1568 Lauder Minor P. iv. 19 (beasts for bags ar in authorytie). 1596 Dalr.
