Auctorise, Auctorize, v. Also: auctoreis; aucthorise, -yse. [ME. and e.m.E. auctorise, auctoryse, OF. auctoriser, med. L. auctorizare.] tr. = Authorise, Autorise v.(a) 1490 Irland Mir. I. 127/1 (Gabriell was auctorist fra the haly trinite). 1509 Reg. Privy S. I. 278/1 (we sal caus the infeftment be auctorizett and confermit). 1535 Stewart 10019 (he causit him auctoreis mony ane knaif); 24356 (he had sic credens of the king, And wes with him auctoreist than so hie). 1562-3 Winȝet I. 55/3 (in the doctrine now auctorizit). 1566 Reg. Privy C. I. 425 (nowther be thame selffis nor ony vtheris auctorizit be thame). 1584 Balnaves 25.(b) 1570 Leslie 121 (aucthoryseing me to invaid Ingland). 1600-1610 Melvill 747 (that it may be aucthorisit).
