Superexpend, v. P.p. also -expendyt, -expenditt, -exspendit, -expendet, -ed, -expend, -t, (superexpeteitt). [Expend v. a, b. Cf. Superspend v.] tr.

1. p.p. Of persons: Overspent, having authorised spending beyond one's financial resources; out of pocket, in arrears, also, as a result of being owed money by others. Also fig. c1530–40 Sc. Hist. Rev. XL 100.]
[At the ‘foot’ (in pede compoti) was a statement of the final balance due by or to the accountant or the words ‘Et sic eque‘. Sums remaining due by an accountant were called ‘rests’, those due to him ‘superexpenses’; in the latter case he was said to be ‘superexpended’
