Strap, Strop, n. Also: strapt, strep, stroap. [ME and e.m.E. stroppe (1357), strope (Caxton), strap (1584-7), strop (1702), OF estrope, L. struppus, stroppus, also OE (once) strop. Cf. (M)Du., (M)LG strop.]
